Concord Hymn

(27 December 1993 - 1 January 1994) after Ralph Waldo Emerson

No graveyards, no monuments for Indians dead from old age, hardship, deceit but grasses, rivers, mountains, clouds sunset and sunrise Ashes that rose from funeral fires generation after generation are fields of wildflowers pollen in the wind Bodies once raised on platforms buried for safety, sealed in caves are our cook fires, rain drops, leaves kind blankets over our children at night
