Dams

The dams are full of silt and gravel that should rest along the banks downstream as breeding beds for salmon. Water diverted from the dams irrigates the farms that displaced the marshes, not leaving enough water for a fish to swim in. The dams have filled with nitrates and pesticides from agricultural waste water, enough to poison hundreds of miles of river. Warming and hypertrophication suck up all the oxygen to kill any fish that tries to swim through it. Tear down the Iron Gate Dam! Let the river run free. Tear down the Copco 1 and 2. Let the river run free. Tear down the John C. Boyle Dam. Let the river run free. Tear down the Keno Dam. Let the river run free. Tear down the Link River Dam! Let the river and marshlands return.
