I’ve pondered over the ponderable problems, and I’ve tried the tribulations. I’ve rejoiced in all the rejoicable gems of life, but received no satisfaction. Just as if I were getting paid, just as if society had laid down the law: Said do so and we will respect, said disobey and we’ll reject. I ought to withdraw. There ought to be a law.
