While we were waiting to leave Grand Central a young man approached and asked help to make his fare to White Plains $2.80 I gave him the 2 and a gentleman 30¢ He shook his head, shrugged, and left the train although the man behind me called to him to offer the 50¢ the conductor chased him away and claimed this is how he makes his living working the crowd and you can believe the one you want to.
