In the last minutes before the performance, three men lower on cables for repair a bar tangled with lights and wires out of the ceiling, while a dancer strains for a photographer who attends to focus, f-stop, ASA. The choreographer calls it: do the leg extension; now take the other position. I don’t have the words: What do you call the part of the theater high above the stage? What are the terms for turn, and squat? Finally the curtain descends, and people enter and settle in the auditorium folding and unfolding their wings.
