If an extraterrestrial life-form were to exist, and were advanced enough to have developed technology to discover our planet, and if they had resources to send robotic missions or extraterrestrial observers, they might be overwhelmed because here are millions of species of living things, and so many of each species that they would find it difficult to avoid being contaminated.
