I’m setting out

I’m setting out at dawn to see you. I know you’re waiting for me, but there’s a great distance between us— forests, mountains, oceans, and time. I have a lot to think about, so no hurry. Determined, steady, and patient, nothing will distract me, neither wind, storm, day, or night. This wasn’t supposed to happen. Parents should die before their children, but we’ll need to make do. When I get there, I’ll put heather and holly on your grave.
