On digging a well by Tom Sharp

He was a grasscutter; it was his life. He lived in a grass hut; he ate grass. But he knew that nobody remembered grasscutters after they die, so he dug a well. I was a poet; but poems are like grass. That’s what he told me. So he recommended that I translate the Ramayana into Nepalese. That work became my well.
