Distant

Peace at home seems empty when distant borders have been crossed and innocent people are being murdered. It’s not enough to have friends and to live on islands of safety if we rest in a belief that we’re different. Traditions come first, but they aren’t everything. Yes, they strengthen us; they unite us; but they don’t harden our hearts.
