- Fishermen in the Shetland Islands
- bought kit boats from Norway.
- These clinker-built,
- three-man rowboats were build
- and every piece named
- in Norway, disassembled,
- and shipped to the Shetlands
- where they were reassembled.
- The six boards from the keel
- are the gabbard straik,
- the Hassen straik,
- the lower and upper sools,
- the sand straik,
- and the upper wup.
- The upper wups are joined
- by the hinny spot at the horn.
- The yoal came with a mast
- and a square sail
- for when the wind was fair.
- We’ll leave it at that.
