She wasn’t a hoarder

Adiharja wasn’t a hoarder or kleptomaniac, but she found that keeping a small object like a pebble or button, a thing that no one would notice and no one would question, was important and comforting. These objects were never valuable, and unlikely to be missed. If she felt sure that no one would notice, she would take the object, keep it for a day or two, then quietly return it when no one was looking. She felt she was imbuing these things with her warmth, even her smell. She was putting her spirit in these small things and placing them wherever she went like secret blessings or invisible sacred candles.
