In praise of the public room in Dayun Temple (I) (literal translation of Du Fu’s poem)

My heart is in the crystal water, my clothes are wet with spring rain. I walk slowly through the cave gate, and the deep courtyard is indeed quiet. I open and close the door, and the bell rings. The wisdom of the wise awakens the nature, and the food and drink are too much to help the weak. We have held hands for many days, and we are happy and have no regrets. The oriole flies through the net, and the purple pigeon descends on the net. I am foolish and I am slow to walk along the lace. Tang Xiu rests my illness and asked me to write a poem with a smile.
