堂前扑枣任西邻,无食无儿一妇人。 不为困穷宁有此?只缘恐惧转须亲。 即防远客虽多事,使插疏篱却甚真。 已诉征求贫到骨,正思戎马泪盈巾。
In front of the hall, a neighbor to the west is picking dates, a woman without food and children. If it weren’t for poverty, would she do this? It’s just because of fear that she has to get close to me. Although it’s troublesome to guard against distant guests, it’s really true to plant a sparse fence. I have already complained about the poverty caused by the military, and my tears are welling up in my scarf as I think of the soldiers.
