Leaving the drudgery by Tom Sharp

I escaped by this same gate before the capital fell to the rebels. I returned with the emperor when his forces retook the city. Now my advice isn’t needed so I’m saying goodbye to my friends. I’m not appreciated but I get it. I leave the drudgery without regret.
