Pounding clothes by Tom Sharp

I know they’ll keep you at the garrison, so I’ll work hard this fall. We’ve been separated for too long already so the winter will be hard for me to bear. I wash and iron, iron and wash all day, but it’s OK because the clothes are for the soldiers. If I pound the washboard loudly enough, maybe you’ll hear it from the frontier.

捣衣 by 杜甫 (Du Fu)
