During the An Lushan rebellion, the rebels took the capital and killed the princess but the prince escaped. Here we see the murderous rebels, like white-headed crows, flying over the city walls and pecking at windows. Here we see the prince, disguised as a beggar. His rags are bloody from crawling through the thorns. I don’t dare speak to him out in the open, but I would tell him not to give up hope. The person now on the throne will be murdered by his son, and he, in turn, will be murdered by his son. Meanwhile, our ancestors taught us virtue and patience, so it matters little how much we suffer now.
