Sleepless by Tom Sharp

Flowers fade into the palace shadows and the last bird-song slips into darkness. Stars descend from the dark sky; the moon falls below the palace roofs. I can’t sleep. I imagine an intruder. Wind is stealing horses from the stable. Diligence is my duty; I can’t forget, even secrets that no one wants to be revealed.
