Unrest in the east by Tom Sharp

I’m lying on the riverbank, reciting Wang Ji’s poem about ambition, and basking in a warm light while soldiers are dying in the east. Everything here is relaxed— the river current, the clouds, the silence of the season. Why can’t I simply enjoy it here?
