Thievery — Miwok

People didn’t used to have fire; Turtle in the east guarded it carefully. Coyote couldn’t stand it; he had no personal use for it but he didn’t like that Turtle was the only one with fire. So Coyote went to where Turtle was and pretended to be a piece of firewood. Turtle put Coyote into the fire. When he got back, his fur was flaming red.
