Its pink clock face says 18 after 8. Let’s say it had been A.M. but now it would be P.M. My mother gave it to me saying, “This is yours.” Of all things from childhood, only this, a sky blue cuckoo clock rattle with pink clock face, pink roof and handle, and four silver bells on the four corners of its roof, remains. Pull the handle and it chirps and swings out a pink bird with blue eyes and beak. Could this plastic rattle be behind my lifetime fascination with birds and clocks?
