After the Reception

for Mary

in this dusk, I imagine, in my car following down this road I feel the comfort of a hidden sun and though I’m far away from one I have a way to go falling in love this way I see she would be the one to hold and there is always a first kiss the pleasure of a secret touch there, I imagine, in her hall the hope is always there yet on this road I’m always here if this beauty is mysterious it is an act of newness the configuration of the clouds the laugh, curious, a tear how far does this road go or how far away is satisfaction and there, how far away again ah, let her tell me all her turns and let me take them one by one
