Sketches at the Boarding House

2:30 A.M. Bob’s radio is on in his room and this evening he was going to Santa Cruz, he said, but his car’s outside, so I don’t think he’s gone, but what’s the matter, was he stood up? or isn’t he alone in there? 5:30 P.M. I overheard Randy on the phone saying to her folks that she might get a job in an art gallery, and if she didn’t that she would leave for home. She’d already bought the ticket, but what’s she going to do with her Motobécane? 3:30 P.M. Maggie is making another doll, with a crooked nose, & applicé cheeks after the fashion of a doll of mine she’d seen, altho mine’s in better taste I think, so my landlady, her mother, pointed it out & thinks it’s great with a smile, but I didn’t know what to say.
