Damned lethargy

with Gil Helmick

#1: Damned lethargy I try to change the world And of course I could But sleep creeps up my leg Causing me to flounder With lonely and erotic intentions. #2: for a lover Come, let me stare at you again— and smile—your breasts are eyes that do not look away— no crime to fear, no wound to hide; I work too hard; I am so serious— until I see your body wink. #3: My book gets fat on words. I feed it abstractions to me indigestible. Swallow this, my pretty. Guzzle these lines the puke of my inabilities. Let me feel that fat little footnote. Eat some more. Soon you will be ready for obese university!
