Early Celtic tales from the Island of Britain featured marvelous treasures. For each, a magical property was assumed that was useful and desirable or that emphasized a noble virtue, or the superiority of a noble protagonist. These magical treasures were either invented to suit the narratives or were inspired by previous tales that people had accepted as worth repeating.
