Saint Bernard

I think I received the archetype from a Warner Brothers cartoon dog who with brandy from a keg on its collar rescues a traveler in the snow on the Great Saint Bernard Pass. The breed was bred by brothers at the Saint Bernard monastery to help with rescues on the pass, but the collar keg may have been an artistic fabrication. Culture is made of cartoons and works of art. These persist in our memories better than lessons from Bible school or history books, or sometimes even more than personal experience.
