Holly calls her unnamed cat “Cat” and it’s useless for her to pretend that she could shoo Cat out of her cab into an alley to huddle in the rain and not go, crying, to find Cat again. Golightly’s absolution, her saving grace, her return to caring and being loved, is brought about by her caring for Cat.
