Church of the Muses

Artists have long thought their work should not be taxed. You can tax resales, but you shouldn’t tax artists selling their own work or charging for performances. This is true of musicians, composers, dancers, artists, and sculptors, any worker in the fine arts. Ideally, studios should be provided free of rent as long as the artists continue to produce work that others want. Since religions and their buildings are not taxed, there was an obvious solution for artists, especially artists who were able to tolerate each other.
