About this book

The trouble with most saints is their lack of humility. They have to claim credit for their miracles, or at least leave evidence that they were responsible so that others may make their claim. Otherwise, the pope wouldn’t canonize them.

Yet miracles are performed all the time by anonymous agents or by agents who don’t intend to make a big deal of it. We should be more grateful for them than for the miracles that the pope acknowledges.

I took the photo on the cover on 10 May 2025. It’s looking west from Sunset Hill Park in Seattle.
