Caṇḍa Ānanda said, “Nobody should think they are all that important.” Caṇḍa Ānanda said, “I’m not all that important.” He told people he was just a vessel. and they were just vessels. You’re not the kind of vessel that floats on the sea. Your strength, your wisdom comes from the gods; you don’t make it out of nothing. If you think you made it yourself, then you don’t get it. He said you’re an amphora with a bit of olive oil in it. He said some people have a little oil, and some people are full of it.
