Isn’t any work of art also a parody, inspired by the work of another, even by the artist’s own work, an imitation, a variation on a theme heard as a child and then forgotten, or a critique, when it’s fashionable, of the genre or technique, and suitably humorous, or at least interesting, if it’s successful, and not tedious?
