His pastimes

Aside from walking with his dogs and issuing proclamations, Emperor Max collected bones. He wasn’t a trained osteologist, but he loved bones. He had the fully articulated bones of a cat. He had a vertebra of a whale. He had no human bone, and no dog bone. Max felt strongly that human and dog remains needed to be respectfully buried. The books in his library were gradually replaced by bones. He liked them if they were clean and dry. He wasn’t one to pick bones.
