Our neighbor, an elderly woman across the street, used to feed bread to crows. In the morning, crows arrived and she went out into her front yard and tossed bread for them. Of course crows are bright animals and they appreciate a good thing, but I’m thinking about how they found her. The first one might have been poking around in her yard for bugs when it received an unexpected benefit. Crows returned to her yard even after she stopped feeding them, even though they could fly anywhere.
