I know I’m just a lucky so and so, but I’d rather be lucky at the slots, or betting on horses. That’s the thing about luck. You don’t control it. And it’s not anything you deserve. It’s not what you get for being a good guy.

I think it’s like being married to a beautiful woman. Do you stay awake at night worrying that she might leave you, or do you sigh and count your blessings? It’s not just her that defines you. I think about that. Say you inherited a million dollars and an honest financial advisor, so you don’t do anything stupid with the money. It’s nice, but it isn’t who you are.

I worked hard and bought my 1960 Willys jeep. I fixed it up and I like to take care of it. It’s not fancy; it’s not even particularly comfortable, but I like it. I like it that it doesn’t protect me from the cold, or the potholes. It’s honest. It’s relatable. It’s worth holding on to. I kind of think I’m like that, too.
