The sixth month of the Bengali calendar is the second and last month of autumn. Its name is derived from the position of the moon near the star Ashvini on the full moon day. Ashvini means "twin horse-man.” It’s depicted as a horse’s head and represents twin physician gods, the Ashvins. It corresponds to Āśvin in the Nepali calendar.
