For the Polish, December is grudzień from the word for “clod, heap, lump.” For Croatians, pròsinac “month for the sun to begin shining.” For Ukrainians, December is грудень (hruden) “month of lumpy snow.” For Macedonians, December is Снежник (Snežnik) “month of snow.” For the Czechs, December is prosinec “month for the sun to begin shining.”
