For the Polish, June is czerwiec— “month of red dye made from bugs.” For Croatians, lȋpanj— “month of linden trees.” For Ukrainians, June is червень (cherven)— “month of cochineal.” For Macedonians, June is Жетвар (Žetvar)— “month of maturity of the first fruits.” For the Czechs, June is červen— “month of fruits.”
