Slavic March

For the Polish, March is marzec “month of Mars.” For Croatians, òžujak “month that lies” because the weather is unpredictable. For Ukrainians, March is березень (berezen) “month of birch trees.” For Macedonians, March is Цутар (Cutar) “month of blossoming.” For the Czechs, March is březen either “birch” or “gravid, with young” because rabbits are pregnant in March.
