The ninth month of the Islamic calendar, a month of fasting, prayer, and community, lasts between sightings of the crescent moon. During this time, Muslims fast from dawn to dusk and refrain from sinful behavior. It is thought that scriptures of all faiths were revealed during this month. It is said that fasting promotes the fear of God, which is not a phobia in the psychological sense, but a sense of awe, respect, and submission. 17 February 2026
