If wishes were horses, beggars would ride

If someone invented an anti-gravity device, they could raise a weight with the device and then turn it off to generate as much energy as they like with the falling weight; however, to avoid violating the second law of thermodynamics, it would need to consume more energy to raise the weight, than it would produce by letting it fall. However, in an ideal world, nobody should go without food, clothing, and shelter, and nobody should be denied respect or justice.
