Stigmata adorn the faithful, festering signs of desire and weakness, insisting that we are all children of a vengeful God, both cursing and forgiving. I burn wherever I’ve been touched. We are all God’s children, they say, hating the sin and loving the sinner, owned, abused, and shamed.
