On 10 May 1806, Archibald Black killed his young wife in a jealous rage with a pewter candlestick. Archibald choked to death while in jail awaiting trial. The state sold his belongings including the candlestick to pay for his burial. Subsequently, everyone who has come into possession of this candlestick dies an unnatural death when they show the smallest sign of jealousy.
