If a single man owns a house, lives by himself, and is over 55 years old, chances are pretty good he has a secret underground lair. In some parts of the country, particularly areas built on soluble carbonate rocks, many of these lairs are connected to natural caves. Nevertheless, merely having a secret lair doesn’t make a person a superhero like Batman. Almost everyone who has a secret lair is a normal law-abiding person. If he sells or rents his house and certainly before he dies, he invariably seals it off and disguises the entrance. It’d be silly to have a secret like this that you didn’t try to keep secret.
