If there’s no supernatural influence, then the individual’s responsible for his own decisions, although not for what others might do to him. Believers in an omnipotent diety, however, have a problem that only accepting mystery excuses. The perpetrator feels he had no choice. Even if he believes in right and wrong, he’s still subject to many influences.
