Welwitschia

Welwitschia, or tumboa (Welwitschia mirabilis), the tree tumbo, growing in the Namib desert, has only two leaves that continue to slowly grow as the long ends die and are frayed by the sand. Welwitschia is not an alien plant; it’s a native. “Normal” is not a synonym for “viable.”
