Nothing ever happened to Dave Rifford. He never won a lottery ticket, never fainted in an aisle at Walmart, and was never hit in a drive-by shooting. He never drove while he was drunk or crashed into a fire hydrant. His home was never burglarized. He never married. He lived all his life in Ephrata, went to Ephrata High School, worked for the county in a variety of low-level jobs, and retired after getting social security. He owned his own house on F Street Southwest and he mowed his front lawn every Saturday. He had a dog, a mutt, and had her fixed, but she died years ago.
