Innocence is the perfect peach, as if it were growing in Eden before the Fall. Necessity and duty enslave the innocent. They enslave the poor; they enslave idealists. They are a honey pot to entrap those whose wills are weak. They are a means to embarrass those who refuse to be beastly.
