Detestable beauty

A perfect imitation of a classic work of art, perpetrated with mere technique, with no imagination or personality, is detestable but still beautiful. Works of art that are easy to make can be beautiful, but if the artist takes only minutes to make them and makes many of them, then both the artworks and the artist are detestable. A girl whose school friends never ask for her opinion but whom they deem to be sure to succeed because she’s beautiful isn’t detestable, but her friends are.
