Lovely curves

The curve of a road on a hill, engineered for safety and convenience, is not more lovely than the back of a rat scratching in an alley. In a various ways, the sculptor’s marble, a morning glory in a junkyard, and the cheek of a burlesque performer are equally beautiful. They have evolved and survived by turning to their own ways. They have not evicted a poet or starved a ballerina.
