Farewell

1. Inside each of us is a child whose voice cannot be heard. We are their offspring, the result of their insistences. They brought us together and they remind us of our past. 2. You don’t need to talk about it; I don’t need to but I can’t help it. The reason they felt abandoned is the trauma that keeps us here. It’s them that I always forget when I kiss your wet lips. 3. Their hearts break for loves that were lost, ruined, never kissed. Their hearts break because love can never be forced, because love is a boat at sea that might have already sunk. 4. Love is also a bird in flight, soaring gracefully, free, joyous and with us for a time, but also comforting, close, two together in a warm bed, clean sheets, freshly baked bread. 5. I don’t blame you; there’s no blame. Each of us bears our own pain and chooses to share it or suffer alone. I’m leaving, and my child wants to tell yours it was nice; we love you.
