28: Form

The Californians at the coffee shop imitate Californians. Intent on the Idea in their T-shirts and sandals they drink their café latés and write in their journals about the theory of Form as opposed to Substance. Yet the one Idea cannot be divisible and yet remain one. They bristle with particulars, exposing their perishable aspects. Few are perfect imitations; they are balding, bulging, bifocaled, or have forgotten their designer sunglasses.
